February Empties | 2015

As often as I can, I will display my empty products of the month. These are for the month of February. I don’t know about you guys, but I feel like it is one of the most satisfying feelings to actually finish up a product you bought. It sometimes feels like it was worth the money.  I can’t promise doing this series every month, just because empties are a rare thing to me. I am actually really surprised that I was able to finish up
five products to the very last drop. Another thing to know about empties is that I will also let you know if I would repurchase the product, now that I am out of it.

List of Products:

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Greed– Eye primers are an important step in my makeup routine because my eye shadow tends to crease without it. This product was great because since the primer has a shade, it could even be worn alone. It dries down to the prettiest shimmery natural color. I would put some on my eyelid and then line my eyes and be ready to go. I also used it as a shimmery base that I could put other powder shadows on top of it. Repurchase? I would in the future, but not at the moment, not just because of my makeup no buy, but because when I run out of eye primers, I am interested in trying out the Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Champagne, a nude shimmer base. Let me know if you’ve already tried it in the comment section!

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream – I broke my nail on the terrible Burt’s Bees tin packaging and found it ironic that something that is supposed to take care of my nails, just broke my nail. I tweeted a picture and Burt’s Bees replied. See the conversation here: @iidoydoyii twitter. Long story short, they eventually sent me a new Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. They definitely earn brownie points when it comes to good customer service. Who knew 140 characters could be so effective? Repurchase? Yes! It really keeps my cuticles and nails moisturized and less unwanted hangnails and dry, peeling cuticles. Cuticle cream is a must have in my nail routine.

Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Body Crème – This luxurious body cream was the most fun to use up. It always felt like a treat at the end of the night to slather this on, and the scent lingers long enough to make me fall asleep. I did mix it in with a Tarte Maracuja Oil just to make it a bit more moisturizing. (See my post about it here.) With the winter months, hydration is key. This came in a set that I won. So I was lucky to try this lovely product. Purchase? No, it is way too expensive for a body cream that only lasted a month or so. I would consider purchasing a gift set if I ever run out of the English Pear  & Freesia Cologne, just so I can have the cologne and body cream again. That looks like years from now.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer – This wonderful face primer is great if you have oily skin and your makeup tends to melt off your face a few hours into your day. Personally, I would mainly use this for special occasions, such as friends’ birthday parties and especially weddings. By adding half a pump to a full pump of this to your face after your moisturizer but before your foundation routine, it really does make your makeup last for hours. It also has the texture that feels silky to the touch, it is almost indescribable. I chose this because it has a low SPF 15 and is oil-free. You could also wear this product alone and it will be great. Repurchase? I feel that I haven’t tried enough face primers to actually say that this is the best one for me. For now, no, I would not repurchase, but I would consider going back to it because I know it doesn’t irritate my skin and prolongs the wear of my makeup.

Nivea A Kiss of Olive & Lemon Lip Care – This product was featured in my Nighttime Skincare Routine. I cannot rave enough about this as an everyday lip balm. It’s simply my favorite, yet I never see it in the drugstore. This lip balm is a twist up and is very easy to use. It feels so moisturizing and soft for your lip care routine. Repurchase? I already have a back up. Enough said.

Thank you for reading my Monthly Empties. I enjoy making these posts and I hope you enjoy reading them. I have a feeling I will not have an empties post next month since I am starting on mostly new, full products. Instead, I will have a Monthly Favorites in place of this post. It will be a first for me.

  1. So I know I’ve seen the Nivea and Burt’s Bees products on someones blog because in store they were on sale! I’ve just been to my local store and to come home and finally find the blogger who wrote about it (that’s you :D) and now I want to go back and pick these two items! I also want to try the milk and honey Nivea lip balm. How does the Burt’s Bees work for you? Do you just put a little bit and work the cream into the cuticles? How often do you apply it? Thank goodness I finally found your post about these 😀 wanting to go back to my store again!!

    • You have no idea how that makes me so happy that you remembered the products from my blog post! So awesome.

I tried the honey Nivea, It’s good! just not my fave. Burt’s bees works amazingly well. The packaging on it sucks though. But just be careful, and the product inside is worth it. I just scrape a little off with the back of my nail, and then with my finger, massage the product into the cuticles and whole nail bed. I use it almost every night, but not when I am wearing nailpolish for some reason.

Let me know what you think of it when you get it 🙂

      • As a first impression for the milk and honey Nivea lip balm, it’s seems moisturising and thick on my lips. I only applied like one layer and feels soft to touch on my lips. I didn’t end up buying the Burt’s Bees because the place I ended up going to wasn’t my local store and they didn’t have the product I was looking for. I think I’ll be loving the Nivea lip balms in the long run and buy bulk!! I think once I find my holy grail lip balm, I’ll be stuck to it and probably find another in the future.. but sometimes it hard to find other good/worthy products.

      • Yea the milk and honey is just okay to me compared to the olive oil and lemon. But it is still moisturizing! Hopefully you get to find the Burt’s Bees especially if it’s gonna be cold there. Dry cuticles are not pretty! Lol
