Get Ready with Me: The Great Gatsby/Flapper Themed Party – Nails

Get Ready with Me (1/4)

On Saturday, my friend had a Gatsby/Roaring ’20s themed birthday party at a beautiful mansion in upstate NY. This series will consist of the nails, makeup, hair, and outfit that I wore.

The Nails

I had no idea where to start with my Flapper manicure. I wondered what they wore on their nails. According to Google, they used red nail polish and created negative space in the shape of a crescent moon. I feel that these are similar to the Ruffian Manicure (which I will share in a blog post soon), except instead of having two colors, the crescent moon is left blank or unpolished.

1. Start with a base coat to protect your natural nail bed.
2. Take your red polish and with your brush carve out a crescent moon shape and fill in the top until it is opaque.
3. Once the manicure is done, smooth out the nail art design with a quick drying top coat. This will make the nail look shiny and protect the nail, making the design last longer.
