Let me introduce you to my skin — the short version anyway. I have had acne prone skin since before high school. My skin type is oily and sensitive. It can become combo/oily depending on the weather. I got this tinted moisturizer in the summertime.

The Packaging is a plastic tube that is easy to travel with and put in your makeup bag. There’s a large twist off plastic cap that reveals a spout from which the product squeezes out of; That part can get a bit messy after several uses. The Price is $44. The Formula has the consistency of a thin moisturizer with a faint smell of sunscreen. A swatch on your hand will look opaque, but once it’s blended, it sheers out completely.

My Thoughts

This product did not cause any irritation whatsoever. I got this tinted moisturizer with the intention that the product would be lightweight, medium coverage, and oil-free. Two out of three ain’t bad. The medium coverage I wanted is actually a light/sheer coverage. I thought it would be medium coverage because the title says lightweight flawless coverage. When I hear the word ‘flawless,’ I think that my skin will look flawless when I put this on; It’s extremely sheer compared to what I had in mind. I have acne scars and the tinted moisturizer hardly covers them up. A huge upside is that it evens out my overall skin tone.

When I have active break outs, this is not the coverage I want. I might as well just go makeup free, rather than accentuate my blemishes.  I think that this is only a really good tinted moisturizer if you’re having a good skin day regardless of acne scars but without active blemishes.  I am almost completely done with it. This really is a no-makeup-look in a bottle. You’ll have a healthy look about your skin, and the sheer coverage allows your skin to peek through. This could be good or bad, depending on your skin’s current state. The color I got was good for me when I had a tan. Once the tan faded a little, the color was too dark. Luckily, it isn’t as noticeable with its sheer coverage. I can get away with using it year round if I wanted.

Would I repurchase? Hey, if my skin was always in good condition, I would repurchase this. BUT…I can’t see myself getting that much use out of it if my skin isn’t in a good condition all the time. It feels like a waste for my skin type. If I were to get it, I would get it in a lighter shade. So for now, no, I would not repurchase it.

  1. I’d say it’s difficult to get a medium coverage with a tinted moisturizer. Most of the ones I’ve tried are sheer. Ones I’ve enjoyed are Kiehl’s, Clarins, Lise Watier and Marcelle (sorry the last 2 are Canadian brands).
    What about BB creams? Have you tried those?

    • True! Only with Jouer tinted moisturizer, I can get a medium to full. It’s kind of crazy. How was the Kiehl’s coverage? I love Kiehls products but never tried their makeup.
      I loved Missha BB Cream but since it’s not oil free, I can’t wear it anymore 😦

      • The Kiehl’s was bordering light / medium coverage – give it a try at the store.
        Oh I bet there are oil free BB creams out there nowadays, catering to many skin types. Most BB creams I’ve tried have a medium coverage, I would say.

      • Yeah the North American ones are kind of BS jumping on the BB cream bandwagon!
        I think the Face Shop has an oil free BB Cream. Not sure if you have access to that brand. In the past couple of years, Face Shop stores have popped up all over the place in here Canada, it’s so neat!

  3. I have tried this and it didnt work well for me on its own coz it made my face look oily. I had to use the powders to mattify and set the tinted moisturizer. Maybe using the duo fiber brushes will help but have not tried yet.

    • I feel ya! I wanted a tinted moisturizer where I could slap it on and go and not have to fuss around with powders. Especially because I would use this in the summertime, it’s the time to be lazy with actual makeup!

  4. Sounds like a lovely TM, and your skin looks so nice in the pic! I generally need medium coverage, though. TM-good skin days are so rare for me, and if I get them, I’d rather just go foundation-free.

  7. Haha Joy, I’m the same as you I always get misled by the “flawless” claims by make up products! I guess conceptually we cant get a “flawless” look if the product is meant to be sheer (hence lightweight?) unless we have perfect skin to start with. But you know, some days we just want to go for the healthy natural and flawless look without using a heavy duty foundation but it seems like we just cant win 😦
    By the way I saw your discussion with stashmatters about BB cream, I recently found out about this Innisfree range called the Smart Foundation and it looks like you may find something suitable for you there. I think mixing the Perfect Cover and Long-lasting foundation might give you sufficient coverage and staying power.. I saw it on one of Pony’s beauty diary youtube videos and it looked good! There are a few Korean online beauty stores that ship to the States so it shouldn’t be difficult to get your hands on some 😀

  9. Have you ever tried the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage foundation? It’s free of a lot of harsh ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin and the clay actually helps to absorb excess oils and keep it under control throughout the day (which also helps it last longer)! It’s full coverage but still has a more natural, satin-matte finish and doesn’t feel too heavy like a lot of full coverage foundations do! I think you’d love it! 🙂

    I love Laura Mercier’s base makeup personally, but yea sometimes this type of foundation is lack of coverage..!
    I know it’s random but have you every tried Estie Lauder EE Cream?? I’m thinking if I should try… Please let me know ❤

      • I’ve been away from internet for a while because of some issues :.( But I’m glad I can talk with you now! EE cream is “even effect” alphabet cream, I’m thinking to try this to see the difference from BB and CC 🙂
