Lipstick Dupes: MUFE | Covergirl

Price differences:
MUFE Rouge Artist Intense in 36 Satin Fuschia $20.00 | Covergirl in Spellbound $5.99

Color differences + similarities:
These two lipsticks are in the same color family. I admit they are not exact 100% dupes. They do have differences in the shade of this vivid fuchsia color. MUFE 36 is a shade brighter, while the Covergirl Spellbound is a shade darker.

Lipstick wear time:
I have used MUFE 36 when I went out for an all day event where I ate and drank in the sunlight. I did have to reapply the color 2-3 times throughout the day into the night which is fair since I think it’s because of the frequent eating and drinking. Otherwise, I think it would have lasted longer on me with minimal touch ups; Very comfortable to wear.

Most people do not find this next lipstick drying; Covergirl Spellbound does last all day on me due to the drying formula. It feels comfortable to wear as long as you put a really good lip balm underneath. I ate and drank with this lipstick all day. I do notice it transferring to my glass and utensils, but when I check to see if my lips got ruined, they look as if I hadn’t been touching them at all which is a pleasant surprise. At the end of the day, my lips lacked moisture and were partly stained with the fuchsia shade.

Would you consider these dupes? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Those are darn close – I would call them dupes. Cover Girl Lip Perfection lipsticks are fantastic! I have a few of them but not Spellbound – I think it’s out of my comfort level. Was this lipstick you were wearing in your Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer review pic?

      • To me, dupes are things that are SO close, that you can’t tell them apart if you don’t have the products RIGHT beside each other. Also, to me, dupes are more useful if the dupe is a cheaper alternative or replaces something that’s been discontinued!

  2. Those are really close! At least in the swatch, the MUFE’s texture looks nicer. But for a $14 difference, it’s hard to argue – the Lip Perfections are pretty nice for the price!

  3. The Covergirl shade has some pretty good color payoff. Weirdly enough, I don’t think I’ve ever owned a Covergirl lipstick before. I always head straight to Revlon at the drugstore, but I’ll definitely have a look around the Covergirl products next time!

  4. They look very much the same, although the longevity is different. I don’t like dry formulas which leave your lips stained, but having them both, you can play with each of them depending on your mood. 😉
