Manicure Monday: Colorful Leopard Nails

Tools Needed: Dotting tool

One of my very first nail art attempts was a leopard nail. This is my first time doing colorful leopard nails and I think they would be a cute idea for summer. It’s a fun and flirty nail design! Let’s get started.

Here is a step-by-step tutorial on the Colorful Leopard nails:

1. Start with a base coat to protect your natural nail bed.
2. Paint the entire nail with your base color until it is opaque.

3A. Simply place the colors you chose all around the nail in any pattern, size, and shape.
3B. With a small dotting tool, place the black nail polish onto the nail surrounding the colors. They can alternate between “C” shapes and parentheses.
3C. Paint on more “C” shapes in the white space and dots to fill up the entire nail.

7. Once the manicure is done, seal the nail art design with a quick drying top coat. This will make the nail look shiny and the design last longer.

I hope you enjoyed this colorful leopard tutorial. Looking down at my nails always makes me so happy!

  1. These are so legit! Love how colorful they are! They kind of remind me of the Lisa Frank school supplies I used in the 90’s! 🙂

  2. You know what I was just thinking today, Hey that Joy hasn’t don’t a nail art post in a while! And lo! Here you are with a colourful leopard print nail tutorial!
This looks so cute on you – do you ever have issues doing nail art using your non-dominant hand?

    • Aww! Haha too sweet! Thank you 🙂

I do have issues with using my left hand. It takes me so much longer since I have to be super careful/slower. For example, while doing these nails, my right hand has huger leopard spots and huger outlines of those spots than my left hand. As long as it looks like leopard spots, it’s fine by me!
