My lovely blogger friend, Lauren from La Whimsy Writer, is the inspo behind this particular sugar scrub — I also want to try to make her DIY coffee scrub in the future!
What you’ll need… (Adjust according to what you like!)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup coconut oil
20 drops of lavender essential oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons honey
1. In a bowl, combine and mix all of your ingredients together.
2. Pop the mixture in the refrigerator to chill for 20 minutes.
3. Mix it up again and pour it into your container.
Now it’s ready for use!
The first time I used this body scrub, I felt the moisturizing effects throughout the day. I didn’t feel like I had to put any body butter or lotion on my body because my skin was so smooth and supple. It makes me think, why haven’t I been doing DIY scrubs this entire time? I suggest using an old (Soap & Glory) body scrub container like I did here. It’s always the perfect size and it really is meant to hold your sugar scrub.
I especially like the balance between the roughness of this scrub and the moisturizing properties you feel afterwards. The best thing about this recipe is that you can tailor it to your own taste. Don’t like lavender? Swap it for another essential oil. You don’t necessarily need the vanilla extract, but for me, the whole experience was leveled up because of it. The combination of the lavender and vanilla scents created a calming body scrub that makes me look forward to my shower time!
Let me know if you decide to try to make this body scrub! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Brilliant! I’m definitely going to have to try this 😀

Nice! I’ve been wanting to make my own scrub for awhile, but the lazies always win out lately. I’ll screen shot the recipe for this for when I get a burst of energy. And some lavender oil.

Yay! Let me know what you think of it. I like it because it is rough yet moisturizing at the same time! Amazing.

I LOVE VANILLA. I have to go to Sprouts Market tomorrow so I’ll pick up some coconut oil and other essential oils and new vanilla and whip up a batch. It sounds DEEEEEEEE-lightful! YUM

Thanks for the shout out Joy you’re the sweetest ❤
I love that you added vanilla to your scrub. I totally agree that lavender and vanilla are such soothing scents, I'm sure that together they're even better! The next time I make this scrub I'm going to add vanilla to it!!!

So what you’re saying is that this is totally edible too, right? 😛

LMAO #organic. I was wondering if that sentence was silly. I know what I was trying to say, but how else should I have worded it???

Nice! I love DYI products as well and I’ve been having fun with a salt and sugar scrub for the feet, as well as a wax to remove hair with lemon juice, honey and sugar. It’s incredible how useful white sugar can be for beauty recipes!
