This product has been a part of my brush cleaning routine since college. I used this E.L.F. daily brush cleaner everyday in school. It’s so convenient to have because who has time to thoroughly wash brushes everyday? The packaging is a tall (8.5 fl. oz) plastic bottle with a spray nozzle. The price is $3.00 but I see that they have made the bottles to be 2.02 fl. oz. for the same price. The formula is a clear liquid that sprays and smells faintly of alcohol.
My thoughts
All you need is a cloth or small towel like I have in the photo. I spray both the brush and a small section of the cloth. Then, I swirl my brush in circular motions onto the towel. You’ll instantly see results of makeup coming off the brush. For heavily used makeup brushes, you may need to repeat this 2-3 times to really get the brush to be clean again.
Here is a before and after of a used eye shadow brush:
Basically, this is great for anyone who uses makeup everyday to use this for spot cleaning makeup brushes. It’s a quick and easy way to disinfect brushes when you don’t have enough time to shampoo brushes and wait for them to dry. Another great thing about this method is that the brush life will be extended. Although, this does not replace shampoo by any means and should only be treated as a brush cleanser for quick cleaning.
Would I repurchase? Yes, even though it has decreased in the amount they give you, it’s the same cheap price and lasts me forever. When you’re in a pinch and don’t want to drench your makeup brush in water, this is the best alternative for me.
What is your favorite way to cleanse brushes in between shampoo washes?
I’ve always toyed with the idea of spot cleaning but I honestly just use a fresh clean brush every day… and let my dirty brushes accumulate until I shampoo them all. 😛
But I should look into something like this – it’s good to know there’s an inexpensive option (but how do they get off in reducing the volume by 75% yet charging the same price??)

I’m like that now, but once in a while I revert back to my college days and it’s handy when you really, really want to use that dirty eye shadow blending brush! I used to use it on face brushes all the time, but I don’t think I would today. Those really need deep cleaning!

I use the sephora daily brush cleaner! It’s actually my first product of this type so I can’t really say if it’s better than others, but I do love it!

Twinning today – we both did e.l.f. posts! I’ve seen this everywhere from tjmaxx to target and have always wanted to try it, but never bought it! This looks pretty good to spot clean and I’ll probably pick it up next time I see it!!

Nice, I should definitely give this a try 😀 Who has time to clean brushes every day? And I don’t have enough to rotate.

Yes! It makes a huge difference when you can’t soak a brush in water.

My only concern is that cleaning the brushes everyday may damage them…
