Skincare Review: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

Cleansing oils are makeup removers in the form of an oil. They dissolve dirt, makeup, and surprisingly oil. This is how to use a cleansing oil:

1. I must stress that you put this on a DRY face. Do not wet your face at all at this point or it will defeat the whole purpose. It is a little weird at first, but I found it to be relaxing, spa-like.

On a dry face that may have makeup on, take a small amount of the oil with dry hands and rub your hands together. Apply the oil all over your dry face. You can see the makeup breaking up (and if you have black eyeliner or mascara on your eyes, you should look like you have panda eyes.) That’s how you know it is working.

2. Take some water now, and wash your hands of the remaining oil. Take your wet hands and massage the oil that’s on your face in circular motions in order to see the oil turn into a milky cleanser.

3. Rinse everything off. There should be no traces of makeup, dirt or oil.

Worried because you have Oily Skin?

Makeup lovers with oily skin are probably feeling wary about putting oil on their faces. I know I was, especially when I had oily skin. Apparently, one way to battle adult acne and oil is with oil. Most acne products are drying and hydration is key. Take this advice with a grain of salt. Let’s not slather olive oil all over our faces. I think cleansing oils are one way to gradually introduce your skin to oil. I do find cleansing oils hydrating compared to regular facial cleansers.

Other Cleansing Oils:

The only other cleansing oils I have tried are the MAC Cleanse Off Oil and Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil. Both are great! I feel the results of all three cleansing oils are great for my skin type, which has changed drastically from very oily to dry to combination skin. Moisture is never a bad thing when it comes to your skin no matter what your skin type may be. I found that my favorite is the MAC Cleanse Off Oil because the oil, when put on the face, seems to glide on smoothly. Whereas the Josie Maran and more so the DHC tend to have more of a drag when applied to the face. I tried to put more oil initially to prevent this from happening, but it did not make a difference.

Would I repurchase?

I have two samples of this and the size of one bottle is 1 fl oz.

So I never purchased this in the first place. It was given as a sample in one of my beauty purchases. I will always use it whenever it comes in the form of a free sample, especially because the sample size is very generous. I do not think I would purchase this because I would rather spend my money on a formula that is more slippy and less draggy on my face. I don’t want to unnecessarily drag my face causing lines and wrinkles for no reason. It’s a pretty good product, but I would not purchase it.
