Half makeup + Half skincare = September Favorites

Makeup:

MAC MSF  Shade: Dark – I’m going to let you in on a little secret… I don’t use this for my face; it’s actually the best transition color for a smokey eye — Think of all the product I actually have… for my eyelids! This will last me a lifetime. I’m so happy because this is the kind of shade I have been looking for (orangey brown transition color) and none of my eye shadows do the job as well as this face powder does. See the magic happen in this brown smokey eye tutorial.

NYC Bronzer Shade: Sunny – I cannot believe I finally hit pan on this. It’s been ages since I’ve had this and the moment I saw that metal shining through, I claim it as proof of how much I love this bronzer. The color is perfect for my skin tone and really warms up the complexion. Here is how I used it in a makeup tutorial.

Makeup Tool:

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler –
This is the only lash curler I have ever used, but I can switch out the pads. I find myself using this for no makeup days when I don’t even want to put mascara on. Curling my lashes makes a huge difference in my appearance due to my small lashes.

Skincare:

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – You know when you come home late from a night out and you have to muster up the energy to even remove your makeup? Once you do that, you’re already through with your skincare routine, for me anyway. I end up using a couple of drops of this all over my face and this stuff really does put your skin in “recovery mode” for the night. I wake up with smooth, soft, hydrated skin; it’s as if I hadn’t gotten home at an ungodly hour. It saves me several times from an unwanted breakout and unnecessary dry patches.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution Sensitive Skin –  I love Micellar waters. I believe they helped my sensitive skin because they’re the only form of cleansing that actually does not irritate my skin. I don’t get the redness I usually do even if I gently wash my face with water and a face cleanser. It’s a great way to hydrate the skin without making it oily. It cleans the face, but I wouldn’t regularly use this to remove makeup as I have a separate cleanser for that purpose.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Long Last Shine Control Blotting Sheets – (no link) Long name! I tried these blotting sheets out ever since I ran out of Boscia and Clean & Clear ones. These are similar to the Clean&Clear ones and I think that’s why I like it so much. It’s the familiar blue plastic sheets that are great for picking up oil. They completely remove the shine and do not transfer the oil to your fingers through the other side of the sheet.

These are the favorites I had for the month of September. Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed my Favorites post. Have you tried any of my favorites? What did you think of them?

  1. That MAC MSF in Dark will last you 10 lifetimes as an eye shadow transition shade lol! Have you ever swatched MAC Soft Brown? It might fit the bill too (not that you need it since you have the MSF).
The Shu curler pinches my lashes unfortunately!
I really like the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – especially the smell. 🙂
I should really depot my NYC Sunny bronzer… it looks like a MAC pro palette hehe…

    • I have never swatched Soft Brown but I know it’s a popular one. And I guess I don’t need to! 10 lifetimes YAY! I’m so silly to never have thought to do that sooner.

I know you don’t like the Shu Uemura curler. Which is your favorite again? I just have to angle it to not pinch my lashes, which is rarely does.

Kiehl’s products are awesome. I can’t get enough. I thought the MRC was nothing, but it’s when I started using it on my nights out to go to sleep.. MAN does it make a world of difference if I didn’t slather it on before bed!

Depot it yes! I just do that because I put it in my UNII palette along with my Maybelline Dream Matte Powder (Almost done) and Benefit Dandelion (Which I NEVER use. It doesn’t come up on my skin that well.)

      • My favourite eye lash curler is from a Shiseido sub-brand called MaQuillAGE – it just works for my eye shape! It’s so individual… I went through SO many different ones before I found that… and I’m always on the hunt still. 😛
You should try the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery EYE cream – it’s fantastic! I actually use it as my day cream!
Aw it will be a sad day indeed when your Maybelline Dream Matte powder is finished… you should try eBay to get a replacement!

      • So they have that at Shiseido counters? I only know one Shiseido storefront and it’s quite far from me.

That sounds good. How do you like that eye cream compared to the avocado one they have? I love that one!

I figure I should move on and find the next best thing. My sister was able to get one last dream matte powder before they were all gone, so it’s like she has a completely new on to work on!

      • No I had to order the MaQuillAGE online. I just took a chance based on people’s recommendations and it turned out to be perfect for my eye shape.
The Midnight Recovery eye cream is actually lighter than the Avocado one (I haven’t tried that on my eyes because I worry it’s too heavy) I use the Midnight Recovery for day time.
Which is the next powder you have your eye on next?

      • Oh ok good to know. I do use avo at night when I do have it. I still have to go through other eye creams before I return to my favorite.

I have a sample of Laura Mercier Translucent powder and it makes me under eye area look flawless. It blurs everything out. So when I’m done with the sample, I’ll get it in December!

  2. I’ve hit pan on the NYC sunny bronzer years ago lol but its still alive and has tons of product! I swear that bronzer will last a lifetime! ! But I absolutely love it 👍❤ I use it daily 🙂 it’s one of my faves as well. I’ve used those blotting sheets in the past and I love them! Ever since my skin has transitioned into dry/Oily more dry than oily I don’t feel the need to use blotting sheets anymore but I remember I used to always have them in my makeup bag!:) Great faves! ! I’m curious on the MSF!!! 😊

  3. Ah, it seems like your favorites are also my all-time favorites! The Midnight Recovery Concentrate is seriously a miracle worker. I think it’s hands-down the best serum I’ve ever used. I’m going to have to check out the MAC MSF. That shade is really beautiful. It’s always nice when you find products that have multiple purposes! 🙂

      • Seriously and I used to use a lot of MAC, too! Just never bought one – always gravitated towards their bronzer in refined golden! And Sunny is such a steal – great matte bronzer and so affordable! Do you remember the drama years ago when it was about to be discontinued and there was a big uproar on Youtube?! Thankfully they listened to the fans!!!!!

      • Seriously! I think it was in 2009/2010 and I remember seeing a bunch of hauls where people went to their local drug store and bought ALL of the sunny bronzers and hauled like 10-15 of them!!!! Hahahaha!

    • I was the same way. I heard so many rave reviews and I already knew that I enjoyed Kiehls as a brand so I had to give it a shot! And I don’t use it everyday as I think it’s too much for my skin, but once in a while, it really repairs the skin magically.
